Our program today was Larry Sanders, who told us about a slice of Abilene History involving the Atlas Missile Sites Joe Alcorta’s outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

CONGRATULATIONS to our newly elected board members who will take office July 1, 2007: KENT BROWN, WOODY GILLILAND, AND STEVE GLENN. Also, today, your Board of Directors selected RANDY PIERSALL to be Club President for 2008-2009. (Bob Test will be Club President for 2007-2008.)

Today, your Board of Directors approved Drew McIntire, with the Taylor County Farm Bureau, for membership in our club. If no written objection is received within 7 days, he shall be, upon payment of dues, considered as a new member of our club. Also, today, your Board approved a contribution of $200.00 to help with hospitality at the Rotary International Convention in SALT LAKE CITY in June 2007. Now is the time for each of you to begin making plans to attend this convention.

DECEMBER IS ROTARY FAMILY MONTH. As part of our recognition of the Rotary Family, we are having a special meal at Briarstone Manor on Friday, Dec. 15. PLEASE BRING FAMILY AND SPOUSES. Cost will be $14.00 per person and it will be well worth every cent.

On Saturday, Dec. 16, our club will RING THE BELL for the SALVATION ARMY at the south-side Wal-Mart (both doors). Be sure and SIGN-UP to help in this outstanding Club Project. (You may have heard PETER AGNELL ringing the bell today at our meeting as members signed up to help.)

REMEMBER, our club is soliciting GRANT APPLICATIONS from charitable organizations in Abilene. If you know of a worthy charity in need of monetary help, ask them to send us a letter at P. O. Box 7108, Abilene, TX 79608.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: BURL HARRIS. Burl was proposed for membership by his brother, John Harris, and joined our club in 1995. Burl is owner of Harris Acoustics and is involved in drag racing, wedding chapels, and several other enterprises. Burl is married to Patsy.

Polio National Immunization Days target every child under the age of five. Rotarian volunteers employ nearly every kind of transportation to reach all communities, including a dug-out canoe on a river in Nigeria.

Remember to wear RED on Fridays to support our troops.
