Today, we had a CLUB ASSEMBLY. We filled out a survey about our club. President Bob had a DVD about the Wheelchair Foundation, but our equipment could not handle it. Joe Alcorta's outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.
IF YOU WERE ABSENT TODAY, PLEASE complete the survey and return it in the enclosed stamped, self-addressed envelope by Nov. 8!!! Program for NEXT WEEK: Learn about Rotary Camp RYLA from two students who attended RYLA last June. They are the daughters of Turner Cariker and Mike Weber.
November is ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH. Be sure and read the November issue of The Rotarian Magazine for lots of good information about the Rotary Foundation. Especially read the article on POLIO ERADICATION. And remember, "Every Rotarian Every Year", the program to encourage each Rotarian to donate $2 a week ($100.00 a year) to the Rotary Foundation.
District Governor Dave Mason will host a ROTARY FOUNDATION BANQUET on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 PM, at Hardin-Simmons University. All Rotarians from Abilene, Hamlin, Haskell, Stamford, and Coleman, and their spouses and guests are invited. This will be a great information session for our newer members about the international humanitarian programs of Rotary. WE NEED MORE MEMBERS FROM OUR CLUB TO ATTEND. Let David Stubbeman know if you want a reservation.
Our Rotary District will be sending a Group Study Exchange to Chile next May. The GSE team is composed of one Rotarian and four young business persons (up to age 40).
Many thanks to the club members who worked on WEATHERIZATION DAY, including Will Dix, Riley Griffith, Paul Lenker, Buzz Rehm, and Mike Weber. Thanks also to those members who helped at the Abilene State School Halloween Carnival.
Last week we asked what a Karakul sheep is? I was pleased to see that several members of our club actually read the Rotater and told me that the Karakul may be the oldest breed of domesticated sheep known to man.
