Today, District Governor Dave Mason, from the Abilene Southwest Rotary Club, spoke. Congratulations to C. G. GRAY, who was named a ROTARY BUILDER by Governor Dave. Joe Alcorta’s outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

Program for NEXT WEEK: Taylor County Court at Law No. 1 Judge Robert Harper will speak on THE STATE OF JUVENILE JUSTICE IN TAYLOR CO.

Be sure to meet our newest members who were introduced today. BETTY HUKILL, director of the Paramount Theater, rejoined our club after a "too long" absence. JENNIFER KENT, with the First National Bank of Baird also joined our club today.

August is Rotary MEMBERSHIP MONTH. The following persons are being sent letters inviting him or her to visit our club. If they are interested in our club, they will be invited to join unless, within 7 days from today, a written objection is received from one of our members: Dr. Tanya Brice, Boston Brice, Don Green, Tracie Cedillo, Connie Mack Skaggs, Roger Easter, and Michael Redden.

Any person visiting our club will receive a new INFORMATION PACKET ABOUT ROTARY. If you bring a guest, be sure that your guest gets one of these.

Our club will have a team participating in WEATHERIZATION DAY on Oct. 20. Be sure and mark this date on your calendar.

On the cover of your ROTARIAN MAGAZINE, you will find your Rotary Membership Number. If your number is listed in the District Governor’s Newsletter, you may be a winner in a drawing to be held at the District Conference in April 2008 in Granbury, Texas.

By the way, the ROTARIAN MAGAZINE is printed in 27 different regional editions, and in 21 languages.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: BARBARA ROLLINS. Barbara graduated from Quanah High School (she played the piano for the Quanah Rotary Club, of which her father and grandfather were members) and McMurry University. She also graduated from The University of Texas School of Law and is Judge of Taylor County Court at Law No. 2. Barbara joined our club in Oct. 1988. She is married to Mike and they have two sons.

MAKE-UPS: Ed Brokaw at Pittsfield, Illinois (twice), Bruce Bixby at Ruidoso, New Mexico (twice), Craig Haterius and Turner Cariker at Abilene Wednesday Rotary. We only have to travel across town to make-up a Rotary meeting. If you were one of the 34 members of the Rotar Club of Papeete, Tahiti, (located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean), you would have to travel several hundred miles to attend another Rotary Club.

If you want to attend the highest Rotary Club in the world (16,000 feet), you must attend the Rotary Club of El Aguilar in Argentina. The lowest club (40 feet below sea level) meets at El Centro, California.

Club Officers: Bob Test, President; Randy Piersall, President-Elect; Mary Beth Kilgore, Secretary-Treasurer; Directors: Kim Bosher, Kent Brown, Frank Dlugas, Woody Gilliland, Steve Glenn, and Jay Hobbs; Sergeant at Arms, Marty Pothier; Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Will Dix; and Mike Weber (immediate past president)
