Turner Cariker and his team will be putting out American Flags on Thursday, June 14, FLAG DAY. Thanks to all who help with this project.

JUNE is ROTARY FELLOWSHIP MONTH. In lieu of our regular noon meeing on June 29, we will have a CLUB PICNIC at FRONTIER TEXAS, from 6-9 p.m. This is for your entire family and guests. The cost is $9.00 per person and this includes a meal and a ticket to the Frontier Texas Exhibit. Children under 12 are free. Put this date on your calendar. After supper, there will be a "changing of the guard," from Mike Weber to Bob Test, and the naming of the ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR.

Also, on Tuesday, June 19, at 6:30 p.m., we will have a joint meeting of the outgoing BOARD OF DIRECTORS and the incoming BOARD OF DIRECTORS at El Chico Mexican Restaurant in the Mall of Abilene. The Assistant District Governor, Isaac Castro from Hamlin, will also attend. Directors, please put this date on your calendars. PETER FOX, immediate past president, ERIK JOHNSON, and BRUCE LAMPERT will be retiring from the board and KENT BROWN, STEVE GLENN, and WOODY GILLILAND will be coming onto the board.

Another date to put on your calendar is Saturday, June 30, at 6 p.m. at the Abilene Woman’s Club when Dave Mason from Abilene Southwest Rotary will be installed as our new DISTRICT GOVERNOR. Call Will Speight, 692-7988, or David Stubbeman, 698-1756, if you want make a reservation to attend.

At our meeting today, President Mike announced that the profit from TASTE OF ABILENE was $22,765.84, which will be split evenly between the Abilene Restaurant Association and the Rotary Club of Abilene COMMUNITY SERVICE ACCOUNT. From these proceeds, at our meeting today, President Mike presented a check to Stephanie Hunter for the YMCA for $1,500.00.

Just this week, we have had two more people sign up to have AMERICAN FLAGS put in their yards when we put out flags. It is never too late to find a friend or neighbor who wants a flag in their yard.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: JACK NORTH. Jack ("Cactus Jack) graduated from Abilene High School, McMurry University, and Dallas Mortuary College. Jack is President of North’s Funeral Home. He joined our club in 1972. He is married to Sandy and he has two grown children.

Remember to wear RED on Fridays to support our troops. Also, bring a guest and PROPOSE A NEW MEMBER.
