Brandon Shahan, with Merrill Lynch, has been proposed for membership. If no written objection is received within ten days, he will, with approval of the board of directors, be eligible for membership in our club.
The nine local charities which are recipients of grants from our Community Service Account were announced today. The largest grant is to Habitat for Humanity for $10,000.00. Recipients will be invited to our meetings in the next few weeks to receive their checks.
Briarstone Manor is CLOSING on June 15, 2008. We will meet at Brairstone Manor on June 6 and 13. We will meet on JUNE 20 AT THE BEEHIVE, downtown, upstairs. Randy Piersall is chairing a committee which will find a permanent place for us to meet after June 20.
We understand that the Abilene Wednesday Rotary Club is now meeting back at the Abilene Country, upstairs.
Beginning June 10, the Abilene Southwest Rotary Club will be meeting at the Abilene Woman's Club, 3425 S. 14th St. The cost per meal is $10.00.
Our Out-going Board Members, our Incoming Board Members, and our Continuing Board Members will have a Joint Board Meeting and Supper on Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 P.M., at Cypress Street Station. Isaac Castro, from Hamlin, our Assistant District Governor, will attend this meeting.
It was reported today that John Harris has been in the hospital and will be out for a few weeks. It was also reported today that Kim Bosher and her husband were in a car wreck, so Kim will be out for a few weeks.
We will be taking our students to Rotary Camp RYLA in Denton, Texas, on the morning of June 19. If you can drive a van to Denton, Texas, and return, on June 19, please call David Stubbeman at 698-1756.
Its not too late to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation. Rotary is encouraging Every Rotarian Every Year to donate at least $100.00. Make checks payable to "The Rotary Foundation" and give them to David Stubbeman.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: BILL EHRIE. As you might guess, Bill is not a native Texan. He was born and grew up in New York City. He served 25 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Colonel. He has worked for McMurry University and is now President of the Abilene Industrial Foundation. Bill joned our club in 1992. He is married to Vicki and they have four grown children.
