Today, Keith Perry, CEO of Sears Methodist Retirement System, spoke. Joe Alcorta's outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

NEXT WEEK: Bill Baker, Director of the Abilene Zoo, will speak.

Pennye Salazar (Lester Humphrey Pest Control) and Clark Flowers (Mrs. Baird's Bakery) have been proposed for membership and approved by the Board. If no written objection is received within seven days, they will be invited to join our club.

Monday, May 26, is MEMORIAL DAY. Turner Cariker and his team will be putting out AMERICAN FLAGS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to the members of our club who help with this project.

Our Grants Committee has recommended to the Board grants of $21,000.00. Names of recipients will be announced next Friday at our meeting.

Our Out-going Board Members, our Incoming Board Members, and our Continuing Board Members will have a Joint Board Meeting and Supper on Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 P.M., at Cypress Street Station. Isaac Castro, from Hamlin, our Assistant District Governor, will attend this meeting.

Congratulations to Riley Griffith, who was featured in Abilene BIZ magazine this month. In addition to being a land surveyor, he helps with our flag program and is on our Weatherization Team.

We will be taking our students to Rotary Camp RYLA in Denton, Texas, on the morning of June 19. If you can drive a van to Denton, Texas, and return, on June 19, please call David Stubbeman at 698-1756.

Its not too late to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation. Rotary is encouraging Every Rotarian Every Year to donate at least $100.00. Make checks payable to "The Rotary Foundation" and give them to David Stubbeman.

If you have been reading THE ROTARIAN MAGAZINE, you know that the Rotary International Convention will be in Los Angeles, California, June 21-25.

MAKE-UPS: Tom Boecking Bob Hunter, Doug Eichorst, and Turner Cariker made up at the Abilene Wednesday Club; and Bob Hunter and Claude Hicks made up at Abilene Southwest Rotary and their TOP 50 Banquet.

The Abilene Wednesday Rotary club will soon be moving its meeting back from Fairway Oaks to the Abilene Country Club.

District Governor Dave Mason and Past District Governor Jim Aneff recently returned from a trip to North Dakota, where they joined in a celebration of the Western Cattle Trail, which ran from the Rio Grande River in Texas, through Kansas, to North Dakota. You will recall that the trail went through what is now Baird, Texas, and our Rotary Club put a marker in front of Frontier Texas several years ago to mark the feeder trail which ran from Abilene to the Western Trail.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: DONNA DOUGHERTY. Donna owns a State Farm Insurance Agency on Buffalo Gap Road. She joined our club in 2000 and after a leave of absence, she is now back in our club. She is married to Chester and they have two grown children.
