Our program today was Jim Kennedy, who gave us some great tips on improving our life. Joe Alcorta’s outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

Program for May 17: Chuck Moser Day. Be sure and come as we present the Chuck & Doris Moser Scholarship Award to a West Texas Abilene student. And we will name the Girl’s Coach of the Year and the Boy’s Coach of the Year.

Be sure and go by FRONTIER TEXAS and see the GREAT WESTERN TRAIL MARKER with the ROTARY SEAL on it by the sidewalk in front of FRONTIER TEXAS. This was a part of our District Conference last week.

We will have a DISTRICT ASSEMBLY in Weatherford, Texas, on Saturday morning, May 20. We will leave at 6 a.m. from Mike Weber’s office at 2149 Cottenwood (just off East Ambler Street). Star Dodge is providing a van so we can all travel together. This is for all incoming Directors and Officers in our club, so that they will be ready to assume their duties on July 1, and for new Rotarians, as well as any other club members who want to attend. Our club will pay the Registration Fee of $15.00 for all who attend. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR MAY 20.

NEW MEMBER: Today, CRAIG HATERIUS re-joined our club. Craig is with First Care and his office is in Suite 510, 2 Village Drive. Please make a special effort to meet Craig.

On Friday, May 26, our club will present checks totaling $10,000.00 to Meals on Wheels Plus, so they can purchase a badly needed van. In addition to this donation, our club raised about $7,500.00 from the Taste of Abilene fund-raiser. Be thinking about who you think should receive this new donation from our club. Rotary is all about helping others. SERVICE ABOVE SELF.

District Governor Jim Aneff is asking each Rotarian in our district to donate $100.00 per year to THE ROTARY FOUNDATION. Please make your donation by giving a check payable to “The Rotary Foundation” to David Stubbeman.

Did you read the article in this month’s Rotarian Magazine about “The Band of Brothers”? This is a group of Rotarians and former military members who go around the world building hospitals and other badly needed buildings.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: Do you know who graduated from Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant, PA, and received a medical degree from Temple University? Dr. RODGER HAGLUND.

Did you know that 94 percent of blood donors are registered voters? We hope that you are both a registered voter and a blood donor. WHY JOIN ROTARY? Among other reasons, FRIENDSHIP. It is one of the reasons Rotary began.

Rotary is based on the classification system, which means that we want members from all employments and professions. This week’s featured classification is RADIO/TELEVISION ANNOUNCER. Bring a Radio/Televison Announcer to our next meeting and you and your guest will each receive a FREE MEAL. Each week in the Rotater, we will feature a classification and urge you to bring a guest who would fit that classification.

Please look at the pictures from Lagos, Nigeria, of our water well project.
