Today, Paul Stultz, President of the Texas Hospital Assn., spoke to the club. Joe Alcorta’s outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

NEXT WEEK: Madagascar students will perform. We will also hear a presentation by Ray Ferguson concerning the upcoming vote on the Sports Authority.

Candidates who have agreed to run for Club President 2009-2010 and whose names will be on the ballot on May 16 are: BETTY HUKILL, MARY BETH KILGORE, AND CHARLIE KITCHELL

This edition of the Rotater is being printed a little early because David Stubbeman will be leaving this afternoon to go to Denton for the District Assembly on Saturday, where Rotary members will be making plans for the Rotary year beginning July 1, 2008. Be sure and WELCOME our new members who were introduced to the club today.

On Saturday, April 26, the Rotary Group Study Exchange from Chile (not from Peru as erroneously reported last week) will arrive in Abilene and spend a week here learning about our City. They will be guests at our club next Friday before they leave to visit the rest of our Rotary District. The team leader is Fernando Haroldo Liz Perez, a Rotarian and a dental surgeon. Two members of the team are teachers, one is an agricultural Engineer, and one is a social worker.

Our club will be sponsoring four students from Cooper High School at RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) in June at Texas Woman’s University. They are Raul Rodriquez, Jr., Vanessa Nelson, Alba Lara, and Okwui Ughanze. All are outstanding students and school leaders. If you know any of these students, please tell David Stubbeman.

If you still have money or tickets to the Taste of Abilene which you have not turned in to Jennifer Kent, please do so promptly so we can get a final talley.

Have you RECEIVED AND READ the May issue of the Rotarian Magazine? If you have not received it in the mail, please let David Stubbeman know. The cover story is about Rotary Clubs along Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles. There is still time to register on-line for the Rotary International Convention in Los Angeles June 15-18.

MAKE-UPS: Erik Johnson made up at a Taste of Abilene meeting; Doug Eichorst, Donna Dougherty, Mike Weber, Turner Cariker, Myra Dean, and Peter Fox made up at Abilene Wednesday Rotary. ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: MYRA DEAN. Myra is with KACU-FM. She rejoined our club in May 2007 after several years of being on a leave of absence. We are not sure where Myra grew up or went to school, so you will need to ask her when you see her Friday at our club meeting.

Club Officers: Bob Test, President; Randy Piersall, President-Elect; Mary Beth Kilgore, Secretary-Treasurer; Directors: Kim Bosher, Kent Brown, Frank Dlugas, Woody Gilliland, Steve Glenn, and Jay Hobbs; Sergeant at Arms, Marty Pothier; Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Will Dix; and Mike Weber (immediate past president)
