Today was Stupid Hat Day and Club Assembly Day. Joe Alcorta's outstanding summary of each of our meetings appears on our club website. Thanks, Joe.

NEXT WEEK: The Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest. At the present time, we only have one contestant, so we probably will have an additional speaker for our program as well as the speech contest.

Be sure and welcome to our club DONNA DOUGHERTY, who has been re-instated as an active member.

Today, we approved the new By-Law, so President Bob Test will appoint a Nominating Committee consisting of Past President Mike Weber as Chair, one current Board member and one non-board member. Members are invited to make nominations for Club President for 2009-2010 and for the Board of Directors by giving the names to Mike Weber or David Stubbeman. The Nominating Committee will then present three candidates for Club President and five candidates for the Board of Directors. The Board will set a date in April to hold these club elections.

TASTE OF ABILENE!!! April 8. Each member of our club has received 6 tickets at $30.00 apiece and you are asked either to sell them or use them for family and friends (and for yourself if you are not otherwise helping with this fund-raiser). If you need more tickets, let Julie Hofmann or Jennifer Kent know.

You can pay for your meals on Fridays several different ways. You can pay $9.00 cash or check. You can charge $9.00 to your club account or credit card. You can purchase meal tickets in advance in books of 5 for $45.00 or 10 for $90.00 by cash, check, charge, or credit card.

At the Board of Directors meeting on Feb. 8, it was reported that, on Jan. 31, the Club's Operating Account had a balance of $6,485.33 and the Community Service Account had a balance of $3,243.74. Chuck Moser Day at our club will be on April 18, and a committee is already working on selecting a high school scholar-athlete to receive the $1,000.00 scholarship our club awards.

Our club will have a booth at the BUSINESS EXPO at the Civic Center on March 26. If you any ideas or suggestions on how our booth should look, let Bob Test know.

ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK: TURNER CARIKER. Turner graduated from Dumas High School and Amarillo College. He previously owned Merry Maids of Abilene, but he recently sold that business. He is still involved in the home security business. He joined our club in 1997 and was club president in 2003-2004. He is married to Jill and they have two children.
